"I LOVE THESE!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you for making a biodegradable option!!" 2009-07-26
By H. Mutz
I am not sure what the unhappy reviewers are so cranky about. I think these bags are great.

1. I used the non-biodegradable liners first, then these. I did not notice any difference in how stinky they get, and I would have noticed by now.

2. I read a couple of ignorant comments about how it doesn't make a difference if you use a biodegradable liner if the diapers you are disposing of are not biodegradable. IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Conventional plastic bags are estimated to break down in 500-1000 years. When they do, they photo-degrade into microscopic granules which, themselves, are not usable by our natural ecosystems and add chemical pollution to our land and air. Biodegradable products generally break down to components that can be re-used by organisms in our ecosystems in one way or another or, at the very least, won't add to pollution levels. So wherever you can choose a biodegradable option, you are reducing the ultimate amount of bulk in our landfills and reducing the long-term pollution that our children and grandchildren will have to suffer from. Furthermore, the sooner the bag breaks down, the sooner the diaper can breakdown; wherever you can use non-chlorinated or biodegradable diaper options, so much the better. (One option that has worked great for me is "G Diapers"; I recommend checking them out. And there are other brands, if that one doesn't float your boat.)

3. As parents of small children who wear diapers, I think we all have a responsibility to stretch as far as we can to responsibly dispose of the waste we are generating with disposable diaper products. (18 billion disposable diapers were used annually in the U.S. a decade ago, so we can assume it's higher now.) I haven't done the price comparison but, in general, if that does mean spending a little more for biodegradable items, I think we owe it to ourselves and our kids to choose those options. I would encourage thinking of it as a "convenience tax", since we are not opting to use washable, re-usable diaper services.

I want to thank the Diaper Dekor folks for making biodegradability an option for parents who are concerned about pollution and sustainability. (My only frustration is that the different sizes of the pails is not clearly noted on the pail itself so I have ended up with the wrong sized pail liners twice now.)

"Original, better refill bags are coming back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2009-07-14
By D. Fernandez (New York, NY)
I just called the manufacturer, and was told that they are bringing back the original bags in about one month (which would be mid-August 2009)!! Apparently, they got a ton of complaints about the new biodegradable bags. (I'm all for the environment and having things be biodegradable, but effectiveness is key.)

"A great product brought to ruin & shame!" 2009-07-10
By C. Sinclair
The Diaper Dekor used to be the perfect diaper pail, easy to fill, easy to empty and best of all NO SMELL. The new liners do not keep out the smell. Leave one pee diaper in there for two days and your eyes will water. This is the first review I have ever written, but I feel compelled to warn people away from this product. (The previous product was on my "must have" list for all new parents.) Oh Prince Lionheart, you have lost a loyal customer. I am about to try the new Diaper Genie.

"The new Bio-Degradable bags can't hold the smell..." 2009-06-24
By Doron Bar-Caspi (Seattle, WA USA)
I've been using the Diaper Dekor Plus for over a year and a half. The old bags used to work perfectly, and the product deserved 5 stars then. But with the new bio-degradable bags the nursery stinks.... I'm on the market for a new product, the Diaper Dekor is going to the trash.

"New bags are really bad" 2009-06-11
By Jeffrey Clay (Dallas, TX)
I've been using the Diaper Dekor Plus system for a few years now and the new biodegradable bags came in about two-thirds of the way through that time, and maybe it's the comparison between the ways things were before (great) and the way things are now (okay, depending on how you feel about smell). I thought the system (with the old refills) was great. I had no complaints whatsoever. However, I agree with the reviewers who believe the new biodegradable bags really don't control odor well, or at all, depending on your view. I'm also at a loss to understand what's so great about biodegradable diaper bags when most people are filling them with non-biodegradable diapers. So, the bags breaks down and releases 16 poop filled diapers into the landfill.... I really used to like the Dekor Plus and recommended it to people but with the new bags it really does smell like you're openly stacking diapers in the corner. I can't recommend the product.
